Laminated Die & Punch Design for Bracket!

Scope of Work:

We're looking for a SolidWorks designer to develop a custom Punch and Die set for a specific sheet metal bracket. Instead of a solid machined block, the tooling must be designed using the laminated plate method (stacked and bolted 5mm MS plates) to facilitate easy laser-cut manufacturing.  


Technical Specifications:

  • Part to Form: 2mm thick Mild Steel (MS) bracket.
  • Blank Size: 104 mm 130mm.
  • Tooling Material: 5mm thick laminated Mild Steel (MS) plates


Design Requirements:

  • Punch & Die must be split into 5mm thick "slices."
  • Include high-precision holes for alignment dowels and assembly bolts.
  • Account for a 2.1mm – 2.2mm clearance between punch and die to accommodate material flow.
  • Incorporate lead-in radii on the die to prevent marking/tearing of the 2mm sheet.


Deliverables: 

  • sldprt (Individual plate and master tool files)
  • sldasm (Complete assembly showing the laminated stack).
  • DXF files for the individual plate profiles (ready for laser cutting).
