We have high-resolution 3D scan data of an automotive/industrial plastic enclosure that needs to be converted into a parametric, injection-moldable CAD model. The external form factor is ICAT-approved and must remain unchanged.
Scope:
- Reconstruct clean parametric B-Rep solids from scan data.
- Deliver STEP AP214/AP242 and native CAD.
- Maintain all external envelope dimensions and mounting interfaces.
- Maintain nominal wall thickness with appropriate draft angles.
- Redesign perimeter split-line with tongue-and-groove O-ring/gasket sealing for IP67: 1 m immersion / 30 min.
- Define groove width, depth, draft, corner radii, 75–85% gasket fill, and 20–28% compression.
- Add external hard stops/landings to prevent over-compression.
- Design screw bosses for self-tapping/thread-forming screws only; no brass/heat-set inserts.
- Size boss core holes, counterbores, and outer diameters according to resin guidelines.
- Add gussets to prevent boss deflection/bowing under gasket loads.
- Keep all screw bosses outside the primary O-ring sealing boundary.
- Verify parting lines, shut-offs, and 0.5°–1.0° draft inside seal grooves.
- Eliminate sink-risk/heavy mass concentrations behind bosses and ribs.
